Protect and preserve the green belt off Bosty Lane

Wain Estates Limited hopes to build up to 650 homes, a neighbourhood centre and public open space.

The area off Bosty Lane covers mainly agricultural grassland, Lodge Farm, some ancient woodland and the Dingle.

We oppose any such development on this land for one or many of the reasons stated below.

    1. The preservation of the green belt land is of utmost importance for nature, biodiversity and wildlife.

    2. Degrading or reducing natural habitats will have severe detrimental effects for local wildlife and ecosystems.

    3. The stress and strain on local infrastructure by introducing ~2600 additional residents into the area would reduce our standard of living. Increasing pressures on local healthcare providers, nurseries, schools and roads.

    4. The already congested traffic in and around Daw End Lane at busy times would be severely worsened. Not only increasing congestion and journey times, but also increasing air pollution.

    5. The pollution caused by HGVs and other building equipment over the expected 5-10 year build-time would be severely damaging to the environment in and around the building site.

    6. Ancient woodlands are crucial and irreplaceable habitats because of their immense ecological, cultural, and climate-related value. They have been wooded continuously for centuries, allowing unique and biodiverse ecosystems to develop that cannot be recreated.

We call on Walsall Council and its Planning Committee, should a planning application be submitted, to vote to reject the proposed commercial development by Wain Estates Limited on the area off Bosty Lane covering mainly agricultural grassland, Lodge Farm, some ancient woodland and the Dingle.
